Despite the pandemic, procedures are increasing for the development of real estate projects in the country

In the last weeks of this year, a considerable increase in the paperwork for the development of housing solutions has been registered in the National Single Window Directorate of the Ministry of Housing and Land Management (Miviot), despite the pandemic.

According to a report, from the week of May 17 to 21, 15 preliminary projects were processed, the majority for Panama West and Panama East.

Additionally, eight projects of the Housing Solidarity Fund program were registered, of which four are preliminary projects and the rest are construction, totaling 2,166 housing solutions; while there are 20 plans for other types of developments, with a total of 5,996 homes.

The boom in procedures, according to Mary Carmen Rodríguez, director of that ministerial office, may be due to the lag that occurred due to the Covid-19 pandemic where mobility was stopped, now the economic openings have occurred and a real estate fair is approaching for the next June.

“Last year we had so long closed due to the pandemic, there were projects that were not developed or that were in development and could not be presented. Once mobility began and companies began to work, there has been a kind of boom towards the development of projects ”, said the director.
