National and international scholarships for Afro-descendant community


New opportunities for studies of bachelor's degrees, master's degrees, diplomas and English courses, is offered by the Institute for Training and Use of Human Resources, Ifarhu, to young people of African descent, after the signing of an important agreement with the Contra-Peso Foundation.

The agreement offers the opportunity to benefit young people of African descent from the province of Colón to study at universities located in Panama and abroad.

The agreement contemplates a minimum of 60 scholarships a year, strengthening equity by providing equal opportunity to men and women, as well as to young people of African descent from Colón with some degree of disability.

A study by the Contra-Peso Foundation revealed that careers related to Art and Culture, Human Rights, Communication, Education, Health Sciences, Engineering, Innovation and Technology, Sustainable Development, Tourism, Gastronomy, International Relations and the Environment Environment, they are the ones in greatest demand among the colonists.

The signing of this important agreement was between the general director of Ifarhu, Bernardo Meneses and Abel Aronátegui of the Contra-Peso Foundation, with the presence of Deputy Kayra Harding of the Commission for Indigenous and Afro-descendant Affairs of the National Assembly; The National Secretariat for the Development of Afro-Panamanians (SENADAP), the Directorate of Indigenous and Afro-descendant Ethnicities of the Municipality of Panama; the National Coordinator of Panamanian Black Organizations (Conegpa) and the Ministry of Government.
