Cabinet Council approves sole text for the evaluation of aspiring magistrates of the Supreme Court of Justice


For the sake of greater transparency in the selection of the Supreme Court Justices and their alternates, the Cabinet Council approved on Wednesday afternoon the adoption of a single text to Cabinet Resolution No. 91 of November 23, 2005 and its subsequent modifications.

 

With the change, the number of members of the Special Evaluation Commission is expanded and it is approved to extend the term to carry out the interviews and evaluation of the applicants, present their considerations and send the list to the Cabinet Council, in alphabetical order and without recommendations or scores. , with its respective documentation.

 

During the presentation, the Vice President of the Republic and Minister of the Presidency, José Gabriel Carrizo Jaén, explained that these changes are due to a request from the Panamanian Association of Magistrates and Judges to be included as a member of the Special Evaluation Commission.

 

In turn, he explained that the Procurator for the Administration, in his capacity as president of the aforementioned Special Commission, formalized a request to extend the term to carry out interviews and evaluations of the applicants.

 

In the modification, the Panamanian Association of Magistrates and Judges is included in the Special Evaluation Commission; the term for conducting interviews and evaluating applicants and submitting the list is extended to 25 calendar days; and a single text is approved in order to organize and systematize the regulations regarding this issue.
