Dialogue on the Drug Law and public procurement continues

Since last year, the National Government has made progress in modifying and adapting the Law on Medicines and Public Contracts, a process that, in the opinion of Minister Luis Francisco Sucre, is necessary in order to achieve a correct and fair supply of medicines.
The minister indicated that it is correct to go to this call for modifications of both Law 1 on the purchase of medicines and Law 22, which has to do with the mechanisms for making purchases.

"We feel that some details are possibly missing. It is part of this dialogue," said Luis Fransico Sucre, Minister of Health, at a scheduled meeting on the subject at the National Assembly.

The President of the Republic Laurentino Cortizo Cohen, said Sucre, is very interested in improving the channels, prices and medicines to which all Panamanians have the right.

For his part, the president of the National Assembly Crispiano Adames said that the high bureaucracy that exists within the system is the one that delays all processes in both the MINSA and the Social Security Fund.

"This is one of the main issues that should be debated at the technical table set up by the Health, Labor and Social Development Commission that deals with drugs from both the public and private sectors.
