Cortizo Cohen highlights the fight against the pandemic and asks to report acts of corruption with evidence.

Before studies by international organizations on the transparency and management of the Covid-19 pandemic, the President of the Republic, Laurentino Cortizo Cohen, highlighted that Panama is one of the countries that has carried out the most tests and that for ten months there has been important attention to the thousands of Panamanians affected by this disease.

 

During a conversation with journalists in the Ngäbe Buglé region, the president said that it is necessary to find where the issue affected the country, “personally I feel that what we have done as a country has been very important, especially in the amount and percentage of tests that have been carried out, compared to other countries ”.

 

Cortizo Cohen also highlighted the important attention that for more than ten months the health personnel have offered in the existing structures and those that the National Government has enabled for the thousands of Panamanians affected by the pandemic.

 

On the issue of transparency in the management of the pandemic, the president emphasized that in his administration he does not accept any corrupt official, and requested that whoever has information on acts of corruption, denounce them with evidence, because “the worst that we can to do this country is to denounce without evidence.

 

He added that each official has a family and that when indications are made, the official and his family, his children are affected; He added that the complaints are not made through networks, but before the Public Ministry.

 

"I am not here to sponsor any act of corruption, absolutely no act of corruption," he remarked, and announced that he had already received the report and the private audit of the resources that the Ministry of the Presidency has handled. "And I want to tell you - and I repeat it again -: be careful with the issue of playing with people's reputations, because in the end we hurt ourselves," he added.

“We are not here to divert funds that we need; and those who do, betray the country and betray my government, ”emphasized President Cortizo Cohen.
