Cortizo Cohen recognizes the work and commitment of the "apostles of the field."

The governor praised, on Producer's Day, the commitment, sacrifice and dedication of the men and women of the countryside who, in the midst of a pandemic, increased production and guaranteed the supply of food in the country.

“In field work there is virtue, dignity, nobility, optimism and hope. It is an effort that transforms, creates life and bears fruit. It is a job where there is passion and love for the land ”, declared the President of the Republic, Laurentino Cortizo Cohen, during the celebration of the Day of the Producer and Professional of Agricultural Sciences.

Cortizo Cohen arrived at the facilities of the Instituto de Innovación Agropecuaria de Panamá (Idiap), located in Divisa, Herrera province, accompanied by the Vice President and Minister of the Presidency, José Gabriel Carrizo Jaén and the Minister of Agricultural Development, Augusto Valderrama, to honor the commitment and dedication of the men and women who work in the fields.

The Chief Executive stressed that, during the Covid-19 health crisis, the Panamanian agricultural sector never stopped producing the food with which it was supplied, not only the Panama Solidario Plan, but the entire population.

“This is a special day that pays tribute to the‘ apostles of the field ’, as engineer Luis Barraza de Freitas called the men and women who, with their efforts, make the fertile Panamanian land produce; It is for these apostles that engineer Barraza proposed the Day of the Producer and Professional of Agricultural Sciences, ”recalled President Cortizo Cohen.

"We are here to honor those who dedicate their lives to the hard work of agricultural production, who with their work, commitment, sacrifice and contributions, ensure our population food every day," he added.

The president said he felt honored and pleased to share this day with "simple and generous people" such as Panamanian agricultural producers and professionals.

"Our congratulations and gratitude to all of you who work in the field, those who investigate, those who transmit knowledge, those who with their efforts maintain the food production of our beloved Homeland," he added.

Cortizo Cohen took the opportunity to reiterate the unconditional support of the National Government for the agricultural sector.
