- 9 out of 10 Panamanians who die from the virus, had not been vaccinated. - The Government has not approved leave without pay. Everything is under evaluation.

Participating in a community work tour through the province of Herrera, the President of the Republic, Laurentino Cortizo Cohen, today urged Panamanians to get vaccinated as soon as possible against Covid-19, and asked with keen interest everyone to come out to convince their family, friends, work colleagues and acquaintances in general, about the importance of getting vaccinated against the deadly coronavirus, which has already taken so many lives from us.

Recalling the responsibility of his government officials, committed to the fight against the scourge, President Cortizo Cohen urged them to set an example, and not to contaminate other collaborators, since no one has the right to infect other human beings

The National Government reiterated that no measure has been approved that sends home, on leave without pay, those who have not been vaccinated. This provision has not entered into force, it is being studied and to evaluate whether the labor, health and social provisions allow it.

Panama has gained international recognition, placing itself as the fifth country in the region, and the fifteenth in the world, in the effort to protect its population, thanks to the arrival of large quantities of vaccines from the Pfizer and AstraZeneca factories. In our country, thousands of lives have been saved, thanks to aggressive continuous vaccination programs, executed at the national level.
