Office of the First Lady brings aid to the community of Burica Centro in Barú


As part of the activities carried out by the Directorate of Social Assistance of the Office of the First Lady, a tour was made to the community of Burica Centro, located in the district of Barú, province of Chiriquí.

Hand in hand with the local authorities and the Chinese Embassy in Panama, the Office of the First Lady delivered more than 300 bags of food, whole and fortified milk, pampers, baskets, soccer balls, toilet and kitchen kits, mats and blankets, assorted clothes, shoes, school kits, masks and water bottles.

"It is wonderful to be able to visit and bring help to the Burica Centro community of the Barú district. We work to bring help to the places in our country that need it most, always caring for the well-being of citizens. I thank the local authorities and in Special to the Chinese Embassy for joining this beautiful activity today, "said Yazmín Colón de Cortizo, First Lady of the Republic.

During the visit, there was also a vaccination day organized by the Ministry of Health where vaccines against influenza, polio, measles and rubella were administered to children and adults. In addition, general medicine consultations, pressure measurement, dental services, among other medical services were provided.

The event also featured an inter-institutional fair where 9 institutions participated, offering consultancies, educational talks, dissemination of different government programs and promotion of their services. The institutions present were: MIDES, MEF, MIAMBIENTE, INSTITUTO DE LA MUJER, IPACOP, MIDA, AMPYME, IFARHU and the Banco de Desarrollo Agropecuario.
