Executive enacts laws in favor of people with disabilities, and comprehensive care for children and adolescents


The President of the Republic, Laurentino Cortizo Cohen, sanctioned, this Thursday morning, two laws aimed at promoting comprehensive health care for children and adolescents; and the well-being of people with disabilities.

 

In the Yellow Room of the Presidential Palace, the president endorsed bill 468 of 2020, "which establishes the legal framework for comprehensive oral health care for children and adolescents in the Republic of Panama", and 538 of 2021, "which creates the Capital Seed Program for people with disabilities."

 

President Cortizo Cohen thanked deputies Víctor Castillo and Cenobia Vargas for proposing these two projects "of deep social interest" and which demonstrate "the good work that is done most of the time in the Assembly."

 

The Minister of Commerce and Industries, Ramón Martínez, signed together with the president the bill 538 of 2021, which provides people with some type of disability with seed capital for the entrepreneurship of small businesses that contribute to their independence and daily sustenance .

 

This program, which provides non-reimbursable resources from B / .500.00 to B / .5,000.00 to people with disabilities, will be attached to the Authority of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (Ampyme), through the National Business Development System, to position of the Ministry of Social Development (Mides).

 

The Mides will be the governing body for the promotion and coordination, in collaboration with the National Secretariat for Disability (Senadis), an entity that will provide the guidance and assistance necessary for the implementation and execution of the program in favor of people with disabilities. disability.
