The first lady of the Republic, Yazmín Colón de Cortizo, in the company of the team from the Social Projection direction, traveled this Wednesday morning to the El Cacao Educational Center in Capira to deliver 40 glasses to children from that educational establishment, to through the “See and Hear to Learn” Program.

Upon arrival in the community of El Caco, the First Lady said she felt "extremely excited and happy" to return to that educational center to improve the quality of life and school performance of 40 students with visual impairment.

Through the program See and Hear to Learn -in a previous visit- hearing and visual tests were carried out on 111 students from first to sixth grade of the El Cacao Educational Center. Of the students evaluated, 40 students between the ages of 6 and 12 presented some visual pathology such as: hyperopia, astigmatism and myopia, for which they were prescribed glasses, said Dora Jara, Director of Social Projection, of the Office of the First Lady .

These health days are possible thanks to the joint work between the Office of the First Lady, medical personnel from the Social Security Fund, the Ministry of Health and the Specialized University of the Americas (UDELAS).
