Grant scholarships against child labor in hard-to-reach areas of the province of Veraguas


Twenty-nine (29) students belonging to the Government Direct Action Against Child Labor Program, in the district of Santa Fe, Veraguas province, received the payment of the economic benefit (scholarship), as part of the inter-institutional actions to eliminate this social scourge.

In addition to the economic benefit to the minors from the schools in Río Luis and Calovébora, they were given school supplies.

Rubén Carrera Bonilla, Regional Director of the Ministry of Labor and Labor Development (MITRADEL), indicated that this initiative seeks to keep boys and girls within the formal school system at the national level. "All country efforts have as a roadmap to redouble the strategies and actions aimed at the eradication of child labor in Panama," Carrera pointed out.

In addition, Margarita Batista de Vivies, Regional Director of the Institute for the Training and Use of Human Resources (IFARHU), an entity in charge of granting scholarships and educational credits that contribute to improving the quality of life of students in Panama, also participated.
