The Ministry of Social Development, which promotes cognitive development and socialization skills in children's centers, held the virtual forum "How do we talk to children about returning to CAIPI", which analyzed a topic of interest related to the biosafety protocols that will govern with the new normal imposed by COVID-19.

During the discussion, the importance of the Comprehensive Early Childhood Care Centers (CAIPI) was analyzed, as a space for early stimulation, remembering that the care of children should not be neglected and should be attended through safe and secure places. controlled.

Emphasis was placed on the new health protocols and the possible symptoms of anxiety that children may present, when facing the new rules of distancing themselves from their classmates.

Another aspect that was studied was play as a teaching process, but conditional on biosecurity measures, to avoid contacts that could generate some type of risk in infants.

Specialist Anna Andreatta, in Special Education and Neurodevelopment, explained the care that should be taken in the social emotional area of ??children, a primary issue that increases multisensory experiences. In this sense, he indicated that parents and teachers must use a simple and understandable language to transmit the new provisions that children must abide by.

In the discussion, the importance of using masks, face shields, constant hand washing and the use of alcoholic gel was recalled.

"We are in an unprecedented circumstance, so we have to listen to science, use common sense, but above all take care of the hearts of our boys and girls," said the Specialist.
The activity also included the participation of Ana Isabel Castillo, a specialist in early childhood issues from MIDES, who stressed that the safety of each child, teacher and administrative staff is a priority for the institution.

Castillo recalled that a series of security guidelines and protocols have been created to guarantee a safe and gradual reopening, which can be consulted on the website in the section “Reopening of CAIPI”.

These talks, which are held in partnership with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) are part of a series of workshops for homeowners , administrators, teachers, CAIPI staff and relatives with children between 0 and 4 years old.

The meetings will be held every Tuesday in February in order to provide information on the guidelines and protocols that contemplate aspects of biosecurity. The talks are available on the MIDES YouTube page.
