The United States donates an interdiction boat to Panama to combat drug trafficking

Panama received from the United States, through its embassy in this country, a Boston Whaler interdiction boat, which will serve to patrol the seas, combat drug trafficking and organized crime networks.

The Boston Whaler, said the Minister of Public Security, Juan Pino, will immediately join the Joint Maritime Force of Panama, to fulfill specific missions through the Regional Center for Naval Air Operations (Croan), which was created last year.

This boat has a comprehensive system made up of electronic navigation equipment, which includes radar, navigation chart, air and maritime communication equipment and a plan for spare parts and essential supplies.

Since the creation of Croan and the efforts made, added the head of Public Security, expectations this year are very high in terms of seizure of drugs, boats and people captured. "To date we carry more than 83 tons of drugs, an all-time historical record."

"Panama maintains its coercive position under the laws that support it in this fight, making us a forceful barrier that will prevent, in every way, the passage of this deadly substance through our seas," Minister Pino explained.

The Deputy Chief of Mission of the United States Embassy, ??Chris Bergaust, recognized that Panama is a leader in the region in drug seizures and congratulated the Government for the record in seizures and for the effort. "With this donation they will increase their capacity to safeguard their maritime domain."

Present at this activity were the Deputy Minister of Public Security, Ivor Pitti, the Secretary General Jonathan Riggs, directors of the security forces and special guests.
