They train agents of change in Panama Oeste through theater

The workshop “Principles of Theater Management” was given to eight young people from the Youth Movement and Peaceful Coexistence in the community of La Florida in the Corregimiento of Trinidad in Capira, province of Panamá Oeste, which belongs to the Colmena Plan.

The Office of Secure Social Development (ODSS), of the Ministry of Social Development in La Chorrera, in a joint effort with the Ministry of Culture, offered this workshop that will last for six classes, for three hours every Friday, to strengthen the personality of each of the young people, the development at a social level, and that they form a theatrical group that strengthens the community in future presentations or in their surroundings.

Kevin Salvatierra, coordinator of the ODSS of MIDES La Chorrera, said that the purpose of the ODSS is to work with young people between 15 and 21 years of age, to create agents of change, community leaders and to replicate what they have learned to other young people from their own community.

“It is a tremendous experience, an absolutely significant learning for us who are young people from rural areas. I thank MIDES and the Ministry of Culture for providing this opportunity, since with theater you free yourself from yourself and at the same time you learn to be yourself, internalizing and feeling the different roles ”, stated Kirvin González, one of the young participants After adding that doing theater is a great tool to spread positive values.

The strategy of using sport and the arts as means of learning and training tools strengthens the skills and competencies to achieve the productive insertion of the youth population.

The closing of the workshop will be on August 12, 2021 with a presentation celebrating the month of youth.
