Cabinet approves measures to reactivate Tourism

The Sustainable Tourism Master Plan is recognized as a tourism planning instrument of the Republic of Panama. Cabinet approves allocating resources for the construction of the Amador Cruise Port. An order to proceed is delivered for the study, design, construction and financing of the interconnection of the Coastal Beltway 3 with the Amador Causeway. The work will allow quick connection of tourists with the Amador Convention Center and the Cruise Port.


The Cabinet Council, in a face-to-face session held at the Panama Convention Center, in Amador, approved several impact measures for the reactivation of the tourism sector and the economy, including the Sustainable Tourism Master Plan 2020-2025 ( PMTS), as well as B / .20 million for the construction of the Cruise Port in Amador and the delivery of the order to proceed for the study, design, construction and financing for the interconnection of the Cinta Costera 3 with the Amador Causeway, for B / .46,041,191.00.

As a first point, the Cabinet approved an additional loan of up to B / .24 million in favor of the Panama Maritime Authority (AMP) to reinforce the investment program of this entity, mainly with the objective of allocating B / .20 million for the continuation of the construction of the Amador Cruise Port and another B / .2 million for the reconstruction of the Puerto Armuelles dock, in the province of Chiriquí.

In addition, the Cabinet approved the resolution that recognizes the Master Plan for Sustainable Tourism (PMTS) 2020-2025 as a tourism planning instrument of the Republic of Panama.

 The administrator of the Tourism Authority of Panama (ATP), Iván Eskildsen, supported the Plan as the new rethinking of the tourism offer in Panama, which was presented with great success at the recent International Tourism Fair (FITUR), in Spain.

The new vision for Panama, according to the PMTS, is "to be recognized as a world-class sustainable tourist destination, thanks to the extraordinary richness and diversity of its natural and cultural heritage, and the quality of its services."
