Government announces second payment of conditional cash transfer programs


As part of the social protection policy developed by the National Government in favor of the most vulnerable populations, the Ministry of Social Development (MIDES) announces that from May 24 to 28 the second Conditional Cash Transfer (PTMC) of this year will take place. to 34,219 Panamanians, who live in areas with difficult access.

During this period, 7.2 million balboas will be disbursed, figures that will impact the townships of the Colmena Plan located in the Ngäbe Buglé region and the provinces of Bocas del Toro, Veraguas and Darién that present high indices of multidimensional poverty.

While from June 7 to 18, 49.6 million balboas will be disbursed to 156 thousand 762 Panamanians from the Social Key Card segment; This is the second transfer of this year (areas of difficult access and social key card) that will benefit 190,981 Panamanians living in extreme poverty.

The Minister of MIDES, María Inés Castillo, said that this payment represents an important economic injection that will allow families in a state of extreme poverty to acquire basic necessities such as: food, medicine and cleaning products.

He stated that the president, Laurentizo Cortizo Cohen, is committed to strengthening and strengthening the transfer programs that are providing social protection to thousands of Panamanians during the pandemic.
