Government guarantees continuity of the ‘See and Hear to Learn’ Program through the signing of a cooperation agreement

The hearing and vision health program is led by the Office of the First Lady. "Seeing and Hearing to Learn" has benefited more than 700 children so far in 2021. The Specialized University of the Americas is the Firm's main ally in this initiative.


The first lady of the Republic, Yazmín Colón de Cortizo, participated as an honorary witness in the signing of the cooperation agreement between the Ministry of the Presidency and the Specialized University of the Americas (UDELAS) that guarantees the execution of the visual health program and auditory "See and Hear to Learn".

This initiative, led by the Directorate of Social Projection of the Office of the First Lady, is aimed at the school-age population whose schools are located in the multidimensional poverty districts, many of which are part of the National Government's Plan Colmena, whose The objective is to organize territorially the comprehensive implementation of public policy through an articulated multisectoral offer that guarantees the population the right to development.

The agreement, which was signed by the Vice President of the Republic and Minister of the Presidency, José Gabriel Carrizo, and the Rector of UDELAS, Juan Bosco Bernal, defines the parameters and commitments of both parties for the implementation of "See and Hear to Learn ", which includes prevention, promotion, assistance and rehabilitation activities for the student population of public preschool, primary and pre-middle schools.

Yazmín Colón de Cortizo, First Lady of the Republic, said: "Since I began my tenure in the Firm, the priority has been, and will continue to be, our childhood. Through the different social aid programs, we seek the well-being of our boys and girls. 'Seeing and Hearing to Learn' is one of them and contributes not only to improving the academic performance and quality of life of our students in official schools, but also serves to help reduce school dropouts ".
