National Government maintains public policies in favor of People with Disabilities


The Vice Minister of Labor and Labor Development, Roger Tejada Bryden, during his speech at the First Virtual International Congress called "Guaranteeing Full Inclusion in Times of Global Crisis", held this Wednesday, May 12, said that the National Government of Panama maintains the creation of public policies of labor insertion and social assistance for People with Disabilities.

Deputy Minister Tejada indicated that every Thursday of each week, MITRADEL manages intermediations with companies to insert People with Disabilities in the labor market.

He pointed out that the National Unemployment Registry created by Law No. 201 of February 25, 2021, has become a new tool that will allow, through an "Opportunity Window" at the inter-institutional level, to have a data of people with disabilities to register their personal data, skills and financial situation.

According to records from the Department of Socioeconomic Integration of People with Disabilities of MITRADEL, from January to April 2021, 29 job seekers with disabilities were inserted into the labor market nationwide.

The International Virtual Congress organized by the National Disability Secretariat (SENADIS), was moderated by the Executive Director of Sumarse, Bruno Basile; the panelists Yolanda Liliana Mayo, a Peruvian psychologist specializing in special education; and Estefanía Mirpure, General Director of the ONCE Foundation for Latin America (FOAL).
