Government transfers land for construction of the Judicial City

President Cortizo Cohen stressed that the delivery of valuable heritage will allow the construction of the Judicial City

The National Government transferred to the Judicial Organ a globe of land of more than 25 hectares where, in the coming years, the Judicial City will be built, in an act in which the President of the Republic, Laurentino Cortizo Cohen, reiterated his commitment, even in the midst of the pandemic, to strengthen the Panamanian justice system.

In a ceremony held on the morning of Tuesday 10 in the Peace Room of the Presidency, the Minister of Economy and Finance (MEF), Héctor Alexander, handed over to the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Justice (CSJ), Luis Ramón Fábrega, the Resolution No. 052-21, which assigns the use and administration, free of charge for an indefinite time, to the Judicial Branch, of a land of more than 25 hectares.

The land is located in the town of Betania, in an area adjacent to the Technological University of Panama and close to the North Corridor and the Centenario road.

President Cortizo Cohen expressed his deep satisfaction that a concrete step has been taken for the construction of the Judicial City, which will allow the centralization and provision of justice administration services in one place.

“With the transfer of these 25 hectares of land, a valuable patrimony is being delivered to the Judicial Branch that will allow it to start the construction of the works within the next three years; that is to say, the Judicial City is going to be built ”, the president highlighted.

He added that this project is one of the 125 priority actions of the Action Plan, in the State of Law, Law and Order pillar, on the road to a better justice system.

For our Government and for the country, it is an important advance in the purpose of efficient justice, equal for all and that guarantees access to all Panamanians to achieve legal security that contributes to social peace and economic recovery, ”he said.
