The work of women must be made visible, warns the Minister of Mides

Today more than ever it is necessary to make visible the work that women do in favor of their environment and the contribution that they offer collectively to society through projects and programs that allow them to reconcile that family-work relationship, and thus have homes grounded in values.

This was stated by the Minister of Social Development (Mides), María Inés Castillo, at the launch of the “Co-responsibility and Reconciliation of Work, Family and Personal Life” Campaign, in charge of the Ministry of Labor and Work Development (Mitradel), which seeks to encourage companies, male and female workers to promote actions that generate equal conditions.
Castillo assured that these spaces strengthen the family because they allow the man and the woman to reinforce the relationship at home.

The minister stressed that the pandemic has allowed the development of a mechanism in favor of the labor relationship, proof of this is teleworking that has allowed Panamanians to fulfill their responsibilities while taking care of their family.

Mitradel's minister, Doris Zapata Acevedo, said for her part that co-responsibility must transcend and be part of the State with the design of care policies, as well as in public and private organizations in which labor schemes are promoted that allow conciliation between family and work.

The campaign arises after in 2020, the Mitradel carried out a random survey related to the conditions of workers and the family in the home, which showed that in the assignment of roles by sex, women are seen with more workload in times of pandemic, being responsible for the care and education of the children, in addition to everything related to household activities.

The reconciliation of work, family and personal life is a strategy aimed at achieving a new organization of social and economic systems, where women and men can make compatible the different facets of their lives, employment, family, leisure and leisure. personal time.

The aforementioned promotional initiative is organized by the Mitradel Gender and Labor Office, the International Labor Organization (ILO) and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) with the collaboration of the Municipality of Panama, Mi Bus and the Metro from Panama, who provided the spaces for the dissemination of the campaign
