H.D. Crispiano Adames, New President of the National Assembly


With 59 votes in favor and 12 against, Deputy Crispiano Adames of the Democratic Revolutionary Party (PRD) was chosen as the new president of the National Assembly for the third period of ordinary sessions 2021-22.
 

The formal acts that began with the raising of the National Pavilion, followed by the flags of the different political parties and free nominations, which make up the National Assembly, had a minimum attendance of people as a result of the biosecurity measures recommended by the Ministry of Health.
 

After starting the session, the quorum was verified to proceed with the nomination of the candidates for the position of president of the Legislative Organ.
 

For the PRD, Congressman Julio Mendoza proposed his colleague Crispiano Adames; Ana Giselle Rosas from the Democratic Change party to Rony Araúz; Luis Ernesto Carlos from the Panameñista bench to Pedro Torres and for the independents, Congressman Edison Broce proposed his partner Gabriel Silva.
 

The deputy Crispiano Adames was elected, who was sworn in by the outgoing president, Marcos Castillero.
 

Parliamentarians Kayra Harding from the PRD and Miguel Fanovich from Molirena, respectively, were also chosen and sworn in for the first and second vice presidency.
 

After the vote, a delegation was chosen that informed the President of the Republic, Laurentino Cortizo, that the Assembly was installed for the new period of ordinary sessions and invited him to the plenary session.
 

The installation ceremony concluded with the words of the outgoing president, Marcos Castillero, followed by the speech of the new head of the Legislative Assembly, Crispiano Adames and finally, the report to the nation by President Laurentino Cortizo.
