LOS SANTOS PERFORMS INSPECTION AND MONITORING IN PROTECTED AREAS Press | Posted on January 5, 2021

Technical personnel from the Los Santos Regional Ministry of the Environment carry out a control and inspection operation of natural resources within marine protected areas to identify any type of infraction or non-compliance with environmental regulations on the coasts of the province of Los Santos.

 

A delegation headed by the Regional Director of Miambiente in Los Santos, Elida Bernal, the National Aeronaval Service and officials of Protected Areas and Wildlife of the entity, participated in a patrol along the coasts of Santa Cruz from the port of Mensabé to the Peñón de La Honda at the mouth of the La Villa River, in order to detect acts of illegal fishing, extraction of mangrove wood, among other cases, in addition to monitoring the current state of the fauna and flora in the area.

 

This operation resulted in the retention of thirteen (13) plastic nets, which were found within the rocky reef area of ??the protected area Litoral del Corregimiento de El Espinal, located in the district of Guararé, in this case the process will begin corresponding administrative

It should be noted that in this diligence the route was achieved within the protected areas of the Multiple Use Area of ??the Sub-Basin of the Mensabé River, Coastal Zone of the Corregimiento of La Enea, Coastal Zone of the Corregimiento of El Espinal, Wildlife Refuge El Peñón de La Honda and the Santa Ana Forest and Maritime Reserve.

 

Finally, the Ministry of the Environment seeks with these actions to detect any illegal activity that contravenes legal regulations and that puts at risk the stability of the natural resources existing within the protected areas.
