President announces recharging of the Digital Voucher for the provinces of Panama and Panama Oeste between January 4 and 8.

The president appeared on Tuesday morning at the site to recognize the enormous and continuous effort of more than 6,500 volunteers who, in 216 days, have achieved the distribution of 4,784,495 solidarity bags, working tirelessly, even on these end of the year dates. .

 

Accompanied by the Minister and Vice Minister of Agricultural Development, Augusto Valderrama and Carlo Rognoni, respectively, President Cortizo Cohen toured the operations center facilities and spoke with several volunteers who make the bags, whom he personally thanked for their solidarity work.

He also took the opportunity to thank the agricultural producers, men and women from the countryside, who have not stopped a single day, providing the raw material for these solidarity bags, "which not only carry food, but carry the hearts and hopes of many people. ", he stressed.

 

The president recalled that the National Government has also maintained the payment of B / .2 billion in subsidies to the most vulnerable population, in the midst of this crisis, and also announced the recharge of the Digital Voucher for the provinces of Panama and Panama West, between January 4 and 8, 2021, so that people can buy what they need and stay at home during the quarantine that will apply for those days in both provinces.

 

Cortizo Cohen added that he has ordered the Ministry of Public Works to take advantage of the quarantine period to advance the Manos a la Obra program, which consists of repairing and patching streets and cleaning gutters.

 

The president announced that in 90 days Panama will begin the vaccination process against Covid-19, but emphasized that, however, "there is no way for us to move forward if we do not correct social, collective and individual behavior in some places; believe me not there is a formula… if we don't correct that… I ask you not to lower our guard. "

 

"I know that the measures I have taken from January 4 to 14 are not easy for anyone, but as president of the Republic I have to make decisions," said the president.
