More than 190 million balboas invested in the Panama Solidario program


More than 190 million balboas have been invested in the Panama Solidario Plan, through purchases from agricultural producers in the country, 108 million have been allocated to the acquisition of national production, 29 million to agro-industries and 44 million to dry products of shops, which have reinforced the solidarity agro bags that are distributed to the most vulnerable families due to the pandemic in the country.

These remarks were made by the Minister of Agricultural Development, Augusto Valderrama, in the National Assembly, where he participated in support of the team of ministers who had been summoned in plenary, to answer a questionnaire related to various details of the actions carried out in in the midst of this pandemic, such as health, economy and solidarity plan.

Valderrama added that the program was created in the midst of the health emergency, injecting resources for the sustainability of social peace and managing to survive until better days arrive.

He explained that they started with bags, which have been improving; National coordinators were appointed, obtaining the intervention of various social organizations, to supervise and attest to the transparent and responsible management of this plan, with the aim that it reaches all Panamanians who really need it.

He highlighted that in the case of livestock producers: pork, beef, poultry and other products, more than 43 million balboas have been bought from them, reaching the most basic production associations, and particularly small producers in the interior of the country. .

Likewise, he announced the delivery of the order for the third purchase of 2000 fat steers, whose slaughter and maquila will begin on February 18. With this purchase we will add more than six thousand head of cattle purchased from the ranchers; while we have acquired more than 15 million balboas from agricultural producers of yam, cassava, onion, banana and others.

Valderrama pointed out that 3% of the total has been spent on the cost of transport and logistics, and praised the work of the 7,000 volunteers who have distributed more than 6 million bags working nationwide, people who risk their lives, where in addition There are about 800 people a day working at ATLAPA for more than 20 hours a day, packing bags.
