More than 3,000 young MIDES volunteers have joined the Panama Solidario Plan


Some 3,800 young people from the Volunteer Center of the Ministry of Social Development (MIDES) have participated in the Panama Solidario Plan with the assembly of food bags, for the most vulnerable families affected by the COVID-19 pandemic that began in March of last year .

These are university students and young people from different communities, who have responded to the call to join forces for this noble cause, most of the young people have been recruited through agreements and calls made by MIDES.

Recently a group of young people from the province of Herrera entered Atlapa to work on the production lines of this important food factory.

Young people from the townships of Santa María, La Arena, San Miguel de Monagrillo, Llano Bonito and San Juan Bautista, district of Chitré. Volunteers also arrived from the town of Los Pozos Cabecera, located in the district of the same name.

The regional director of MIDES in Herrera Cinthia Ureña, explained that the volunteers from communities that have been affected by the pandemic, which shows the commitment acquired to contribute to the humanitarian program led by the President of the Republic, Laurentino Cortizo Cohen, since March from last year.

The Panama Solidario Plan is an “instrument of social peace” as the Chief Executive has pointed out, benefiting many Panamanians in a daily work of more than 6,700 people, of which 5,350 go out to the streets to make deliveries by air, water and land transportation.
