Doctors Without Borders and the Ministry of Health carry out humanitarian work for migrants in Darien

Doctors Without Borders (MSF) in Panama moved to the province of Darién, and in conjunction with the Ministry of Health, they provide medical, mental health and social orientation care to the migrant population entering the community of Bajo Chiquito, an area border with Colombia.

Owen Bremil, coordinator of Doctors Without Borders (MSF) in Panama, pointed out that due to the large number of people who arrive at the Health Center in Bajo Chiquito, the work has been extended so that as many migrants as the population can be cared for.

"We are working hand in hand with a team from the Ministry of Health, made up of a doctor, a technician and a nurse. In July we have assisted 7,500 people and in August 8,000 were assisted," Bremil said.

The Minsa asks the population not to lower their guard, comply with biosecurity measures and attend the vaccination centers against COVID-19.
