MiCultura guarantees commercial activity to “raspaderos” in the Old Town


Vendors of the popular and refreshing Panamanian “raspao” have no impediment to carry out their activity under the “Sabores del Barrio” program of the Ministry of Culture.

The director of the Office of the Old Town (OCA) of the Ministry of Culture, Fernando Díaz Jaramillo, received in his office the vendors: Luis Visuette, Eladio Aguilar, William Aguilar, José Agudo and Julio Mendoza to clarify that they can sell in the Casco Old, but taking into account the biosecurity indications dictated by MINSA and those of the “Sabores del Barrio” program.

In this regard, Julio Mendoza apologized for the misunderstanding that was generated with his statements and admitted that he did not have a good communication with the Office of the Old Town, as did his other colleagues dedicated to the sale of this refreshing iconic product of the gastronomic culture of the Historic Center.

Mendoza acknowledged that he was reluctant to follow the OCA guidelines and that from now on he will use the clothing that was given to him as well as the card, renewed today, so that he can exercise the sale without any obstacle. of the "raspao" highly sought after by nationals and foreigners.

After a meeting with the director of the OCA and the coordinator of socio-cultural programs of the institution, Julissa Espinosa, it was explained to the five raspao vendors and a “crazy ice” vendor that they are integrated into the “Sabores del Barrio” Program. and that through the Ministry of Culture they are provided with a card and uniform so that they are clearly identified as the only ones recognized to sell their products in the Old Town.

The coordinator of sociocultural programs of the OCA, Julissa Espinosa, extensively explained all the work and communication that has been had permanently with all the vendors so that they can carry out the activity safely.

Other vendors who use the uniform provided with the “Sabores del Barrio” logo (T-shirt and cap), on the one hand, thanked the permanent support of MiCultura through the OCA and reported that they have never been prevented from carrying out their activity.
