MiCultura presents accountability to Folklore guilds


Folklorists from different associations participated in the accountability meeting that the Ministry of Culture (MiCultura) is holding with various groups from the Cultural sector, in order to show the management carried out during the year 2020.

This report presented by the national directors of the entity, Maru Gálvez from the Creative Economy Directorate, Daniel Domínguez, from the National Directorate for the Arts, Enrique Noel, from the Cultural Rights and Citizenship Directorate and Yessenia Sánchez Coordinator of Special Projects of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), reflect the works, projects and programs carried out by MiCultura during the past year.

Marú Gálvez, Director of Creative Economy, indicated that “among the agreements that were reached with this important union, we can mention the coordination of the process of citizen participation in the design of the project, the National Folklore Center, the creation of the directory of folklorists to national level for the culture satellite account, hold work groups on the subject of regulation of the general law of culture, inventory of events, review of the highland artisan fair project and coordinate meetings with the Palenque Foundation on the subject of more than 100 poems written for the Bicentennial.

Carlos Bethancourt, General Coordinator of the National Folk Solidarity Movement, an organization that brings together more than 50 organizations from all over the country, said “we are pleased with the accountability of MiCultura and we are here to support Minister Carlos Aguilar Navarro. During this administration we have always been attended to on several occasions and we have worked hand in hand and coordinating and generating future actions between the parties. Likewise, with the Súmate Ya platform, in which, thanks to this great survey, our people have been attended ”.

At the meeting we were accompanied by the Vice Minister of Culture, Gabriel González and the Secretary General, José Ismael Herrera and representatives of various associations such as the El Copé Fair, ANPEFOLK, National Association of Accordionists, Asociación Quiero Amanecer, Ideas Creativas, Conjunto de Folkloric Screenings Orgullo y Esplendor de Panamá Este, Redafolk Panamá, Fundación Palenque de Santiago del Príncipe and National Folk Solidarity Movement.

For the next few weeks, MiCultura will continue to summon different associations, unions and people affiliated with culture in order to show the management carried out during the 18 months of government.
