MIDES provides assistance to families affected by the floods


After the heavy rains that occurred this weekend that caused dozens of affected families in the country, the Minister of Social Development, María Inés Castillo, together with the Deputy Minister Milagros Ramos Castro, went to the communities of the 8-8 Circuit on Monday, to grant them Immediate help and give you a voice of encouragement during these difficult times.

Both Minister Castillo and Vice Minister Ramos Castro traveled with their work team the sectors of Puente del Rey in Panama Viejo (Corregimiento de Parque Lefevre), as well as Nueva Esperanza (better known as El Chorrillito) in Juan Díaz, where they brought implements personal hygiene, cleaning and biosafety.

The grooming kits consisted of towel, soap, and toilet paper; While the cleaning service included a broom and mops, a mask and alcohol were also delivered to prevent contagion in the midst of the health crisis that Panama is also experiencing as a product of COVID-19.

In this first phase of helping those affected and affected by the rains, milk and disposable diapers for infants were also delivered. The items delivered will allow those affected to return to their daily activities.

The aid was given to some 60 families in Panama Viejo and 92 from Nueva Esperanza in Juan Díaz.

"We are transferring all the social aid that is necessary to mitigate the damage caused by these rains," said the head of MIDES.

The residents of these communities thanked the National Government, through MIDES, for this social assistance.
