MIDES presenta oferta de construcción de CAIPI en pro de la primera infancia en Veracruz

With the aim of contributing to the reduction of poverty in the Panamanian population and in order to expand the coverage of child development services, the Ministry of Social Development (Mides) presented the first Citizen Consultation to local authorities and community leaders of Veracruz for the construction of a Comprehensive Early Childhood Care Center (CAIPI) in the sector.

The National Government has committed to expanding early childhood services nationwide, which is why it is investing in improving the infrastructure, equipment and quality of the CAIPI, to provide comprehensive care to children from 0 to 4 years old and their families , said Silka Vuelvas, national director of Social Protection Services at Mides.

The construction of this CAIPI in Veracruz, in the province of Panama Oeste, will be a reality through a loan granted by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) to the Panamanian government.

Joaquín Palacios, Head of Architecture at Mides, reported that the aforementioned CAIPI will be located in the community of Costa del Sol, on the main road of Veracruz, so that its accessibility is easy.

He explained that it is a land of approximately 1,600 square meters and is governed by the quality standards developed by the National Directorate of Social Protection Services (Dispros).

In addition, it will have the areas of pedagogical attention and services, as well as classrooms divided by age, being Maternal A (for children from 1 to 2 years old), Maternal B (for children 2 to 3 years old) and Maternal C (for children from 3 years to 4 years).

The consultation concluded with positive results and good suggestions for the development of this project, as well as in the articulation of functions of the different entities, thanks to the participation of the community and the representatives of the ministries of Education, Health, of the National Assembly and communal boards.

Rosemary Cedeño, community leader and mother, expressed being very enthusiastic about the construction of a CAIPI in the sector, while thanking the National Government, since this option had not been presented for the child population.
