The Government of the Republic of Panama condemns in the strongest terms the violent acts that claimed the life of the President of the Republic of Haiti, Jovenel Moïse, perpetrated at his residence and in which his wife was also seriously injured.
Panama joins the voices of concern of the international community in the face of the serious political and social crisis that the sister Republic of Haiti is experiencing, and urges all actors in that country to follow the institutional channels that the moment demands, to achieve a process of peaceful presidential succession, in which the rule of law prevails.
Panama extends its deepest condolences and expressions of solidarity to the relatives of the president and the Haitian people and hopes for the speedy recovery of the First Lady, Martine Moïse.
