In a ceremony headed by the Minister of Agricultural Development (Mida) Augusto Valderrama, the sectoral coordinating commission was installed to formulate State policy for the development of the agricultural sector.
It should be noted that the construction of a State Policy in the agricultural sector that provides direction to the sector for the next 20 years is part of the Action Plan of the President of the Republic, Laurentino Cortizo Cohen.
In the event that had the participation of ministers of States, deputies of the National Assembly, directors of entities related to agriculture, and university authorities, among others, an alliance was formalized between the Ministry of Agricultural Development, as the executing arm of agricultural policies , and the institutions of the public agricultural sector with the support of the office of the Minister Counselor for Agricultural Affairs.
Minister Valderrama indicated that this begins one of the commitments of the President of the Republic, Laurentino Cortizo Cohen, in a campaign in favor of the agricultural sector, such as creating an agricultural sector policy that lasts over time and establishes the roadmap of the sector, so as not to be in these vicissitudes that have happened in the last 20 years and that have led the sector to anarchy and total insecurity and affecting the development of the Panamanian agricultural sector.
He added that it is expected that within a period of about two months, prior to a national consultation with all the sectors involved, both the government, private companies and producers, they will be able to count on a policy that defines the roadmap of the agricultural sector.
The minister of MIDA called on all productive sectors of the country that once approved, all have the commitment to enforce it and defend it in time, as necessary so that the sector does not go through the black and turbulent nights again. it has had in these last 20 years.
