According to the Ministry of Health (MINSA), in Panama the successful vaccination process and biosecurity measures against Covid-19 have allowed the opening of activities progressively in order to maintain a balance between economic and social aspects and health, so it is projected to achieve herd immunity in the month of November, with 70% of vaccines applied.

Health Minister Luis Francisco Sucre met this Wednesday with the Vice Minister of Internal Trade and Industry, Omar Montilla; the president of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture of Panama (CCIYAP), José Ramón Icaza and the executive director of the Association of Restaurants, Bars and Discotheques (Arbyd), Mario Luis González, to whom he informed that it is evaluated, analyzed and Progress in public health and trade development are verified to continue with the process of gradual reopening of the country.

The health minister pointed out that one of the main objectives of the meeting was to evaluate future strategies and the measures that are adopted to return to normality, expand the capacity in restaurants, bars and the reopening of activities and businesses that are still continuing. closed.

Sucre referred to various goals that the Minsa has and consulted by the various sectors, among which the lifting of the curfew at the national level stands out once the herd immunity was achieved next November.

He mentioned that each proposal of the various sectors of commerce, such as curfew and opening of activities, is analyzed by the epidemiology and public health team, and is subsequently communicated to the President of the Republic, Laurentino Cortizo Cohen.

"The measures and decisions that are being taken are based on social behavior, epidemiological indicators, installed capacity, number of positives, they are multifactorial decisions," explained Sucre.

He stressed that Panama is advancing with a safe step so as not to have to return to implement the measures that have already been made more flexible, as has happened with other countries.
