MINSA joins the campaign "Today no one should die of AIDS"


The Ministry of Health (MINSA) joined the campaign "Today no one should die of AIDS", an initiative promoted by the PROBIDSIDA Foundation and which seeks to attract people who suffer from the disease to receive antiretroviral therapy, which is totally thanks both in the MINSA and in the Social Security Fund (CSS).

"Every effort made in order to improve Panamanian health will find MINSA supporting it," said the Minister of Health, Luis Francisco Sucre, at the launch of the campaign, where he also highlighted that, with a timely diagnosis , no one should reach the AIDS stage, or death.

"Adherence to treatment is so easy that years ago 14 pills were taken a day, today 70% of patients receive treatment that has been reduced to a single pill", indicated the director of PROBIDSIDA, dr. Orlando Quintero.

According to data from the foundation consulted with the national STI, HIV and hepatitis program of the Ministry of Health, Panama is in the first places of the countries most affected by the HIV / AIDS epidemic, in the region in recent years the group most affected age group are young people between 20 and 34 years old.
