MITRADEL and the Municipality of Aguadulce join forces to fight against child labor

An agreement to redouble efforts in the fight against child labor, recently signed Doris Zapata Acevedo, Minister of Labor and Labor Development, and Jorge Herrera, Mayor of the Aguadulce District.

This inter-institutional agreement seeks to develop and implement joint strategies in order to declare the Aguadulce district free of child labor. With the signing of the agreement, both parties undertake to generate public policies aimed at the prevention of child labor, following the national and international standards established for such purposes.

The head of the Ministry of Labor and Labor Development (MITRADEL), Doris Zapata Acevedo, indicated that these alliances promote access to a better future for children and adolescents in the country. "We will continue to join other local governments as part of the roadmap to continue fighting against child labor," Minister Zapata said.

For his part, Jorge Herrera, Mayor of the Aguadulce District, said that with the signing of the agreement, an arduous path begins in the fight against this social scourge.

It should be noted that the United Nations General Assembly declared 2021 as the international year to eradicate child labor, reaffirming the Panamanian State its commitment to the country's children
