Llano Tugrí women receive supplies to start their small businesses


The Minister of Social Development, María Inés Castillo de Sanmartín, delivered supplies to women who are beneficiaries of the Red de Oportunidades project of the Llano Tugrí community, in the Peña Blanca district, in the Ngäbe Buglé region to strengthen women's capacities .

Among the supplies supplied are folding tables, chairs, stoves, televisions, chickens and chicken feed, which implements the strategy established with the advice of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the government for the benefit and empowerment of women.

In this context, Castillo de Sanmartín pointed out that the strategies are focused on elements such as the strengthening of local and productive capacities, the articulation of actors and community organization in vulnerable places where women have the capacity to bring development to their homes and towns. .

"We are committed to accompanying them in this process, the National Government will continue to be present in this community (Llano Tugrí) and together we will ensure the progress of its entire population," he added.

For his part, the head of the FAO mission in Panama, Adoniram Sanches, said that this project is complex and they are supporting it with an economic development component, focused on families (women), to seek food self-sufficiency
