Panama will build the Mariano Rivera High Performance Baseball Training Center.

The President of the Republic, Laurentino Cortizo Cohen, on the second day of the work schedule in New York, United States, participated as an honorary witness in the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Panamanian Institute of Sports (Pandeportes) and the Major League Baseball (MLB).

 

The signing of the memorandum of understanding (MOU) was carried out at the MLB facilities in Park Ave, New York, between Baseball Commissioner Robert D. Manfred, Jr. and Hector Brands, Pandeportes director in order to promote the development and promote baseball among young talents in Panama and Latin America. Cortizo Cohen in the company of Mariano Rivera, Panamanian baseball glory and member of the Hall of Fame, participated as witnesses of honor.

 

After the signing of the memorandum, the construction of the Mariano Rivera High Performance Baseball Training Center was announced, in the district of La Chorrera, city of Rivera, former closer for the New York Yankees and the only unanimous member of the Hall of Fame and National Baseball Museum in Cooperstown, New York.

 

The Panamanian state will invest B /. 7 million in the construction of the Mariano Rivera High Performance Baseball Training Center in La Chorrera, West Panama. The construction tender is scheduled for next October, and its inauguration before 2024.

 

In addition, the MLB agreed to provide Panama with technical advice related to the development of baseball players, coaches and general infrastructure, as well as the implementation of the First Pitch program and to strengthen the MLB Training Partnership program in our country.
