Due to biosecurity measures, 22 schools will postpone the start of blended classes in the capital city

Faced with the risk of an increase in Covid-19 infections, the Ministry of Education decided to postpone the start of blended classes in 22 educational centers in five educational regions of the province of Panama, while 78 will continue with the process on Monday 31 of May.

After a meeting held between the Minister of Education, Maruja Gorday de Villalobos and of Health, Luis Francisco Sucre, the measures adopted in the educational environment were announced, but at the same time, similar decisions in other regions were ruled out for the time being .

The provisions apply to public and private sector schools such as: Academia Interamericana de Panamá (Juan Diaz), Juan E. Jiménez (December 24), Marcia Cañellas and Metropolitan School of Panama and Juan Arturo Martinelli (Pedregal), Instituto Albert Einstein ( San Francisco), Isaac Rabìn and Kings College Panama (Ancòn), CGBG The Little Train of Knowledge ABC (pacora), CGBG San Juan de Pequenì, CEBG Victoriano Lorenzo, Emberà 2.60, La Tranquilla, Peña Blanca, Quebrada Ancha, San Juan de Pequenì, Mono Congo (Chilibre), French Lyceum (Veracruz), Bilingual Academy de San Antonio, Colegio Bilingue de Panamá, International School of de Panamá (Rufina Alfaro) and Rio Tigre Abajo school.

In the rest of the schools, the programming continues as planned and MEDUCA will maintain the actions of the Covid Educational Committees, to identify the needs and priorities of the schools, as well as the infrastructure, including drinking water services.

Vaccination of teaching staff will continue to be applied to teachers and school administrative staff as a protection and epidemic control mechanism.

Classes, suspended since March last year, will begin blended this Monday, May 31, in schools with low enrollment and in some multigrade ones.

MEDUCA reaffirms the will to advance in this process, always within the margins of health security towards the gradual and safe return of semi-presential classes.
