During a community work tour of the province of Herrera, the President of the Republic, Laurentino Cortizo Cohen, revealed that Panama has guaranteed the acquisition of more than 9 million doses of vaccine against Covid-19, which are equivalent to coverage of the population above herd immunity.
The president announced that, starting with the next batch of AstraZeneca vaccines that arrives in the country, a rapid vaccine car will be opened on the grounds of the David fair, in Azuero and La Chorrera, and also in the city of Colon.
Cortizo Cohen urged the provincial governments to be prepared for this vaccination, which will be done simultaneously, and reaffirmed that the AstraZeneca vaccine is safe and effective.
"If we continue to do things well in health, socially and economically, we will continue to see with hope a country that walks by the right thing," said the president, referring to the decrease in infections and deaths from Covid-19 In Panama.
However, he insisted, "we have not gained anything in the fight against the pandemic" and urged the population to continue complying with biosecurity measures with the use of masks and practicing physical distancing and frequent hand washing.
The president reiterated the call to his officials to work as a team and correctly: "Everything you do, do it well, it is the clear message for public servants."
