President Laurentino Cortizo Cohen began the “Recovering My Neighborhood” program in the city of Colón, which includes an investment of B / .19.3 million for the rehabilitation of 65 multifamily houses, while announcing that, before the end of the year, it will resume the construction of works that were abandoned in past administrations, such as the four hospitals awarded to the IBT company, including the Manuel Amador Guerrero and the Ciudad de la Salud.

In a ceremony held in the dome of the Paseo Marino, the president delivered four orders to proceed for the rehabilitation, maintenance and improvements in 23 buildings in the district of Barrio Norte and 42 in Cristóbal Este (sector of the Fair). "The idea is to be able to live with dignity, create employment in the neighborhoods, improve the environment of the city of Colón," said the president.

He specified that the “Recovering My Neighborhood” program, which is part of the Economic Reactivation Plan, includes for the city of Colón an investment of B / .6 million in Barrio Norte and B / .13 million in the Fair sector, as well as the generation of 13,940 direct jobs for Colonenses.

He emphasized that this program includes a training component so that youth from the neighborhoods can be hired and asked the community to organize itself to continue the maintenance of each building.

“The one who speaks to you is not an improvised person in the province of Colón. I started my political career on the coasts and mountains of Colón. I am not in politics to tell anyone about it, and let no one tell me about it, "the president emphasized.

Likewise, he announced that tomorrow the Cabinet Council will present a proposal for the reactivation of the City of Health, a work that began in 2012. He said that a consortium made up of three Panamanian companies would complete the project.

“We are advancing the negotiation with IBT to restart the work of the four abandoned hospitals, including the Amador Guerrero Hospital in Colón. They are knots, they are challenges that we find in this administration that has only been 24 months, 17 of them in pandemic, "said the president.
