President Cortizo Cohen appoints magistrates in the Supreme Court of Justice.


In his commitment to transparency and to guarantee legal security, as well as an effective and efficient administration of justice in the country, the President of the Republic, Laurentino Cortizo Cohen, appointed Miriam Yadira Cheng Rosas as magistrate this Wednesday afternoon. of the First Civil Chamber, and to María Cristina Chen Stanziola, magistrate of the Third Chamber of Administrative and Labor Litigation of the Supreme Court of Justice (CSJ).

 

Miriam Yadira Cheng Rosas was appointed to replace Hernán De León, while María Cristina Chen Stanziola replaced Luis Ramón Fábrega, from the Third Chamber of Administrative and Labor Litigation, whose term expired on December 31, 2021.

 

The Chief Executive also appointed Ariadne Maribel García as alternate judge of the First Civil Chamber and Salvador Domínguez Barrios as alternate judge of the Third Administrative and Labor Litigation Chamber.

 

In addition, he appointed Isis Omaris Joseph Garzón as a substitute magistrate for magistrate Cecilio Cedalise, in the Third Chamber.

 

"For the first time in the history of the Republic, our Supreme Court of Justice has five women among its nine magistrates," said President Cortizo Cohen in a message to the Nation.

 

He stressed that the selection process responded "to the need to have magistrates characterized by their independence, criteria, commitment, knowledge and character," as it was done in 2019 when it appointed three Principal Magistrates, and six Alternate Magistrates.

 

“Once again I fulfill this responsibility, by filling the vacancies produced by virtue of the expiration of the constitutional period of two main magistrates and their respective alternates. One of them for the First Civil Chamber and another for the Third Administrative and Labor Chamber ”, stated the president.

 

The president stressed that “in my only joint interview with the five appointed magistrates, I indicated that they are due to the Homeland, the Constitution, the Law and their conscience; that they always do the right thing and that they always bear in mind that no interest is above the Fatherland ”.
