Presidente Cortizo se reúne con rectores de universidades estatales.


The President of the Republic, Laurentino Cortizo Cohen, together with the Vice President and Minister of the Presidency, José Gabriel Carrizo, led an important meeting with the rectors of the universities that receive State budgets, in which they presented an overview of the process they are developing in pandemic to move from virtual to face-to-face classes, following all biosafety protocols within institutions against Covid-19.

 

The budget execution, resources assigned to develop research plans and programs in each university were aspects addressed in the meeting, qualified as positive by the rectors.

 

President Cortizo Cohen reiterated his administration's support for education, which in its action plan is the star of the government as a tool to close the gap of poverty and inequality, and of the future of the country.

 

The rectors participated: Eduardo Flores, from the University of Panama: Héctor Montemayor, from the Technological University of Panama; Juan Bosco Bernal, from the University of the Americas (Udelas); Etelvina de Bonaga, from the Autonomous University of Chiriquí (Unachi) and Víctor Luna Barahona, from the International Maritime University of Panama (UMIP). For the Executive were also the Minister of Education, Maruja Gorday de Villalobos; the Administrative Vice Minister of Education, José Pío Castillero and Benjamín Colamarco, from the Secretariat for Monitoring and Execution and Compliance.
