President of the Republic participates in the act of farewell and recognition of the nursing team

- Panama has vaccinated 70% of the target population 12 years and older with two doses. - The vaccination process at the national level continues.


The President of the Republic, Laurentino Cortizo Cohen, participated in the act of farewell and recognition to the team of nurses and technicians from the interior of the country who, for more than six months, stayed at the Vasco Núñez de Balboa Convention Center in compliance with the Continuous Vaccination Strategy against Covid-19.

 

President Cortizo Cohen recognized the work and effort of the nursing team, as well as the PanavaC-19 team, which have been a key factor in the successful vaccination process in Panama.

 

The president announced to the country that it has been possible to vaccinate 70% of the target population with two doses (population in the established ages), with little left to achieve this percentage in the general population and thus achieve herd immunity. "This news should fill all Panamanians with pride, because we have achieved it together as one team: Team Panama." He also expressed his appreciation to the Operation PanavaC-19 team, whose efforts have made possible an orderly and efficient vaccination process.

 

“I remember February 22, when they arrived from Chiriquí, Herrera, Los Santos, Veraguas, Coclé and Colón, ready to assume the commitment to vaccinate the population. That day is very special for me, I feel excited and proud of each one of you. Since that day they have been a key factor in the successful vaccination process in Panama against Covid-19. They have been months of effort, sacrifice, discipline and dedication, a mystique that his Panamanian brothers and sisters will never forget. You, heroines and heroes, are a living example of the spirit of solidarity, brotherhood, sacrifice and commitment that distinguishes our people, ”Cortizo Cohen told the nurses and technicians. At the event, a recognition was given to five nurses in the country, with the Priscilla Torres Espinoza Medal of Merit.

 

The vaccination process has not been suspended, but since 5,472,415 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine have been applied until yesterday, the decision has been made that these personnel return with their families and continue from those areas with the vaccination process.
