President highlights support from producers and local governments in the fight against pandemic.

During a tour of the province of Herrera, the President of the Republic, Laurentino Cortizo Cohen, highlighted the great work that producers have done, together with local governments, in supporting the Panama Solidario Plan, in the fight against the pandemic.

 

He added that although the rates of positive Covid-19 cases remain in the single digits, "we cannot lower our guard, because here we have won absolutely nothing, the vaccine helps, but it does not immunize."

 

He stated that even in a pandemic, the government has maintained subsidies that exceed 1.6 billion balboas; To which has been added the food bags, the physical vouchers and the digital voucher delivered through the Panama Solidarity Plan, which has built a “balance in the social peace of the country”.

 

Cortizo Cohen highlighted the positive environment and movement in economic activities, such as commerce, construction and agriculture. "When you see the commercial movement, that encourages us," he said.

 

He expressed his optimism with the vaccination process, “because I can say that at the level of the 39 circuits we are prepared for the vaccination process, with which the country has positioned itself as one of the most efficient countries. And it gives us hope, I have no doubt that with the organization, in Panama we aspire to be the first. That is the ceiling that I put on the vaccine team ”.
