“It is important that in a democratic country the system works and that we are not the ones to point out and judge. Those of us who believe in the rule of law, in respect for the Constitution, laws and procedures have to understand that there is a rule of law and a presumption of innocence and I will always defend that, ”said President Cortizo Cohen during a community work tour on circuit 8-3 (Chame and San Carlos).
The president thanked that before judging and convicting a person in the media they present evidence to help the Public Ministry to investigate. It is not good that in this country it continues to be pointed out, condemned and judged.
Cortizo Cohen said that he has a good government team and that all the alleged irregularities indicated in the pandemic have been investigated and are still being investigated, many of which have resulted in people acquitted by investigations carried out by the Public Ministry.
He explained that on the issue of swabs to tourists visiting the Pacific islands "his administration did not cover anything and from the beginning that the situation became known, an investigation was carried out. In that sense, he reported that once he received the report from the National Authority for Transparency and Access to Information (ANTAI), he asked the director to do the right thing.
He stressed that the officials named in the investigation are separated from their position in the Ministry of Health.
