First Lady delivers 22 homes and social assistance in Agua de Salud in the Ngäbe Buglé Region


Yazmín Colón de Cortizo, First Lady of the Republic, and her work team visited the Agua de Salud community, located in the Ngäbe Buglé region, to deliver 22 homes and bring social assistance to more than 400 families in the area.

With the delivery of these housing solutions, the Office of the First Lady makes the dreams of a decent home come true for 22 families from Agua de Salud. The houses were built by the Institutional Protection Service (SPI), with the help of the community, and were also equipped thanks to the support of Mides.

"Visiting this beautiful community, meeting its hardworking people and being able to bring them this important help makes me very happy. It fills my heart to see how the community has worked hand in hand, together with the SPI, to build 22 houses, which come to improve. the quality of life of these families, "said Colón de Cortizo.

With the support of the Ministry of Agricultural Development, the First Lady delivered agricultural implements, fertilizers and seeds to produce food. Training was provided to improve the techniques of cultivating the land. In addition, the Panama Aquatic Resources Authority (ARAP) built a tilapia pool and provided training for its use.

The Social Assistance team of the Office of the First Lady delivered more than 400 bags of food and supplies to families from different townships of the Ñurum District, who attended the meeting. Among the supplies donated are fortified and tetra-pack milk, cleaning and school kits, soccer balls, mattresses, blankets and footwear.

The tour also led to a health fair where various medical services and a vaccination day were provided. In addition, craft certification cards were given to artisans from the village of Ñurum, most of them dedicated to making baskets, crates and hats.

To this visit, the Chinese Ambassador to Panama, Wei Qiang, also attended to deliver 300 bags of food and 100 teddy bears for the children of the community, donated by this country.
