First Lady visits Divino Niño Comedor in El Chorrillo


Fulfilling her commitment to Panamanian children and youth, the First Lady of the Republic, Yazmín Colón de Cortizo, made a visit with her work team to the Divino Niño Comedor, which is located in the district of El Chorrillo, in Ciudad from Panama.

The Comedor has functioned for more than 30 years as a daily support center, to provide food and recreational activities for children and young people residing in the area. Currently, it operates from the facilities of the Community Police.

"How wonderful it has been to share with the children and young people who attend the Divino Niño Comedor. I love knowing spaces that offer leisure and learning options to our future generations. This center does a great job, hand in hand with the Community Police. I thank this great team with all my heart for the excellent work they do for the children and youth of El Chorrillo. During the visit, various supplies such as backpacks, school kits, soccer balls, toilet kits, food bags, among others, were delivered.

This space has the support of the Localinpty Kids Foundation, which is in charge of teaching English classes to the children who visit it. They also have recreational areas for soccer and ping-pong or table tennis aimed at young people, in order to prevent them from being alone in the streets.

The Governor of the province of Panama, Carla García, was also present at the conference and said that "I am very pleased to learn about initiatives such as those of the Divino Niño Comedor. Our children and young people of El Chorrillo have a lot of potential and that they have places like this one, it greatly helps their physical, intellectual and emotional growth. "

Additionally, the Social Assistance Directorate of the Office of the First Lady gave the dining room four Lego sets and two fans to be used in the facilities.
