Health certifies lactation rooms in the work area

The breastfeeding program of the Metropolitan Health Region has delivered certificates of lactation rooms installed in ministries, private companies and other entities at the city level, which meet the requirements for their authorization.

In this sense, these rooms in the workplace are established by Law No. 135 of March 23, 2020, which reforms Law 50 of 1995 that protects and encourages breastfeeding and modifies the Labor Code.

The Ministry of Health, through the Regional Health, has delivered certifications in breastfeeding rooms established in the Ministry of Labor and Labor Development (Mitradel), in the National Secretariat of Science and Technology (Senacyt) and the Gorgas Memorial Institute of Health Studies (Icges).

Likewise, through the breastfeeding program, companies and other public entities are encouraged to adapt these spaces, since they contribute to mothers and the right of breastfeeding children.
