Agricultural sector announces purchase of "all the onion" and reaches agreements with producers of Coclé


"We are going to buy all the onion that is today without buying in the province of Coclé", was the answer that the Minister of Agricultural Development, Augusto Valderrama, gave to all the producers who were affected by the floods that occurred in that region of the country, in a meeting that was held in Natá and in which five important agreements were reached to improve the production of this sector.


The message from the head of the MIDA portfolio was given in the framework of a dialogue with the producers, which took place in the Onion Drying Plant, in which the producers, affected by bad weather, were listened to and responded to. , last April.


At the end of the meeting, the purchase of all the onion suitable for human consumption was agreed to from all the producers affected by the past floods and excessive rainfall. In addition, the Regional Directorates were instructed to proceed to verify farm by farm, with file in hand, what was reported as hectares sown, quintals harvested and sold.


Also, a Technical Evaluation Commission was appointed to determine the support that will be provided to those affected by floods and excessive rainfall.


Another of the agreed points was to finish the work on the three-phase line, for the evaluation of the equipment and adaptation of the facilities of the onion plant, as a commitment of this administration led by the President of the Republic Laurentino Cortizo Cohen.


In addition, it was agreed to install the research agency for the development and strengthening of onion cultivation and other items in the IDIAP area.
In his speech, the MIDA minister reiterated that they will buy "all the onion" that is in good condition from the producers and, in addition, made a brief breakdown of the support that Coclesan producers have received in this period.
