In a ceremony held in these facilities, the head of the MOP, Rafael Sabonge and his counterpart from MiCultura, Carlos Aguilar Navarro signed the transfer of the structure that will be destined to be occupied by the Museum of Contemporary Art (MAC).

Minister Aguilar Navarro highlighted that with this transfer an idea that was conceived almost from the beginning of the administration of President Laurentino Cortizo and that the Board of Directors of the Museum of Contemporary Art was interested in "giving life to this public space" located on the Cinta Costera that receives thousands of visitors.

In the future, the Minister of MiCultura said that it is the opportunity for thousands of "families with their children coming here to appreciate contemporary art and the collection that MAC has that will be available to the public."

The use of the structure to install the Museum of Contemporary Art is "part of the democratization of culture" and MiCultura recognizes the contribution of this private museum so that the "public has the opportunity to exercise their cultural rights".

Aguilar Navarro stressed that this achievement is due to the decision of the President of the Republic who fulfilled one of his promises to create the Ministry of Culture, which gives the sector the opportunity to be represented in the Cabinet Council from where direct contact has been allowed. , not only with the MOP, but with other ministries.

For his part, Minister Sabonge, stressed that it is a Public Private initiative, so that once the transfer materializes and the MAC makes "important investments" it will be part of the legacy "of the administration of the current MiCultura administration. .
